Two minutes from now I’m going to have an answer for all of you on how high you should be teeing your tee shots so you can improve your swing. The new drivers that have come out in the last 5, 10 years have what is referred to as a deep face.

From the bottom to the top it’s about two or more inches. Most players associate all of that space with teeing the golf ball high. We even have three-inch tees now.

So, that isn’t true. You don’t need that. Some of you might, but most of you don’t.

So, here’s my rule of thumb for how high should you tee the driver: If the mistake you make is that you constantly top the golf ball, that isn’t always the answer. You could fix your posture and bend over a little bit and that would fix topping the golf ball.

If you always hit underneath the golf ball, this isn’t always the answer, where you tee it down so low. Maybe you simply need to get your chin up.

So, a great rule of thumb is that the golf ball should be slightly higher than the center of the club face.

If the golf ball sits much higher than the center of the face, the swing tip to improve your golf would have you hitting the golf ball on the upswing. If it was teed down close to the ground, and you tried to hit the golf ball on the upswing, you might wind up hitting a little grass behind it. Instead, you would have to hit this one on a little bit of the downswing, which is defeating the purpose of the driver. The driver’s swing is a sweeping swing. And you want to catch the golf ball at the bottom of the arc.

At worst, you want to catch it on the way up but not too much on the way up.

Experiment with your tee shots. Play a whole round of golf where you tee it a lot lower than normal, then the next round a little bit lower than normal. And then play the third round where you tee it real high.

Now, I have a great golf strategy for you. I recently played 18 holes on a little bit of an odd golf course.

It was a good golf course, but the first nine holes, there was out of bounds on the entire left side.

On the back nine there was desert on the entire right side, the first nine holes, trouble left.

The golf strategy I used was that on the first 9 holes, I teed every golf ball exactly the same height, as close to the ground as I possibly could.

The last nine holes, I teed every tee shot as high as I possibly could.

On the first nine holes, when I teed it down low, if you tee a golf ball as low as possible to the ground, it’s very difficult to get the club face to cross over and to hook it. I never hooked one ball out of bounds for the first nine holes.

The last nine holes, trouble right, this is very difficult to slice from here. The golf club will cross over and you’ll wind up hooking the tee shot way before you’d slice it.

I missed one fairway on the front nine and I never missed a fairway on the back nine.

The golf strategy to use here is instead of changing your golf swing, change the way you tee it: low for fades of slices and high for draws of hooks.

Thanks and the next time out, give that a try.

Success at playing golf largely revolves around your golf skills and the most important aspect is your golf swing. The ability to execute a powerful and balanced golf swing is the key to mastering golf. Here are some proven power tips to improve your golf swing.

Power Tip 1 A great golf swing is more than just swinging with your arms. Swing your golf club behind your back while you turn it to your target. It is like taking your club back as you hinge your arm at your shoulder. You could also practice the drill known as no arms.

Power Tip 2 You should not forget to cock your wrists. This might be difficult at first, but it will be natural to you with enough practice and will produce tremendous results.

Power Tip 3 Your left arm should turn clockwise slightly when you start the back swing. It is not really something that you actually should remember. It naturally happens if you would just allow it. This just means that you should not resist this movement that is just natural. You might not notice it, but you might have been resisting this movement because this causes the head of your golf club to go open slightly when you swing it. Just allow it to happen naturally.

Power Tip 4 Always plant your feet firmly on the ground. This technique is also commonly used in baseball. It involves letting your foot heel in front to come above the ground when you swing your golf club back. Some people think that by doing this so, their back swing feels bigger.

It is something that seems lifting the front heel can easily make the body coil and for the tension to build that much harder. Letting the foot roll freely to the inside is fine. However, one should keep that foot on the ground to make golf back swing well-anchored.

Power Tip 5 Work on your bottom golf down swing. Assuming that you accomplish all the drills correctly, from the golf stance, the golf grip you have, and your golf back swing. But you can still ruin everything if you begin the golf swing that you have with the shoulders. You might want to use a swing trigger to begin the golf down swing that you have with the lower part of your body.

Power Tip 6 Another tip on your golf down swing. You should turn the belt buckle to your target. Try turning your hips as powerful and fast as possible when you do your golf down swing, it works.

Do you ever thinking of how to improve your golf swing? Why not try to buy a golf swing analyzer? A golf swing analyzer is a very helpful tool to help you to improve your golfing performance by improving your golf swing skill.

Although it is not that similar to what you get the feedback from a real golfing professional. Using a swing analyzer can still work pretty well for the golf driving purpose. Also, I bet there are not many people that can afford to have a real professional 24 hours standby whenever we need a piece of advice. Thus, they appears to be very useful in giving you some hints on how to improve your golf swing and play much smarter. The is because a golf swing analyzer is a great tool which analyzes your golf swing.

In fact , there are several types of golf swing analyzers, the main difference is in the quality and the cost. If you are just buying a golf swing analyzer for using at home, then you really do not need to spend as much as what the clud houses are spending on a golf swing analyzer. You can simply buy a cheaper golf swing analyzer that cost about a few hundred dollars that already fulfills your need. All you need to do is just attached that to your club when you swing and it will then tell from the movement how to improve your swing.

Apart from the cheaper ones, there are some of the expensive ones which gives the more sophisticated data for improving your golf swing. Most of them will video your swing and then input the data into computers for further analyzing purpose. It includes a software which analyzes your golf swing angles, speed as well as the direction of your shots. After that , it will tell you how accurate your shots are. Of course, it implys that you are going to pay much more than the cheaper ones as they can give you some more detailed analysis of your golf swing that other cheapers cannot give. The more expensive machines at golf centers use a much more sophisticated technology.

Actually, using a golf swing analyzer can be a really great and easy way for improving your golf swing skill and no matter what type of the golf swing analyzer you choose, you can easily understand how to improve your swing much better. In general, if you get your swing correct, it will be a great part of improving your whole game performance and thus a good golf swing analyzer is really useful for all beginners or professional ones.

The success in putting up a good fight and play at golf lies not only with the significant investment in the pricey equipment and golf clubs. Diet is also crucial, as well as physical rest, inspiration and of course, motivation.

This article would focus on the exercises and simple flexibility tasks that would greatly help you curve up and become physically capable and able to put up a golf game.

(a) The back stretch

This exercise is very relaxing. It is considered more of a flexibility task or activity than a physical exercise. To execute back stretch, follow the following simple procedures.

1. Get a mat and spread it on the floor.

2. Kneel down then stretch your arms forward on the mat. Reach further until your head is almost touching the floor.

3. Make sure the palms of your hands are lying restively on the floor. Extend further forward until you can. Hold the position for a couple of minutes.

4. Rise up and stand. You can repeat the procedure indefinitely.

(b) The spinal twist

Playing golf would require you to swing that golf club to the left or to the right, depending on your position. Thus, it is important to achieve well-toned muscles at the spinal area or the sides of the abdomen.

Here is an exercise that would help maintain and achieve flexibility of that physical area.

1. Stand firmly. Then start rotating your torso or upper body to the left, without moving your feet, which should be firmly standing on the ground.

2. Do the same position or step to the right.

3. Do the process for as long as your body could tolerate.

The exercise is simple, yet the flexibility achieved through executing it is almost always and practically helpful for you, the valuable and dedicated golf player.

Enjoy the game and stay focused. That would be the best flexibility task and discipline ever. Swing the golf clubs buddy!

Golf swing speed is one of the key factors in hitting your drives as far as possible. Golfers of all ages and abilities are always trying to get more distance out of their drives…aren’t you? But what’s the most effective way to achieve higher swing speed? And are you really going about it the right way?

There are many new golf training aids on the market promising more distance and higher clubhead speed, but out of most of them, there are only a few that succeed. I say this, because the one limiting factor is your current physical status. If you don’t improve your golf specific strength and flexibility, you’re “dead in the water” no matter what!

Golf training aids can only do what your body will let them!

So that leaves you with a combination of the right training aid for your golf swing speed improvement, and a program focusing on core strength and flexibility to get you to move that club faster and in control through impact. Does that make sense to you?

Just picture it! You are not in very good shape and you step up to the tee with the intention to kill it! What usually happens? Do you get that distance on the shot you hoped for? Did you keep it in the short grass or did you blow it in the woods?

Improve your golf specific muscular strength and flexibility and your swing speed will naturally go up without any extra effort! Swinging easy will be the mindset you’ll have when you have a fit body for golf.

Golf swing speed means nothing if your swing is out of control! Some of these new training aids don’t mention this. All they focus on in their advertisements is faster and faster swings. Faster and faster does not always leader to longer drives! In fact, swinging faster leads to lack of control, accuracy and consistency.

How many times have you stepped up to the tee box, swung hard and it went no where? I know it’s happened to me more times than I can count on both hands feet, fingers and toes.

Excuse me if I’m not correct, but ball-to-clubface contact is one of the key factors in maximizing distance. If you have a heel or toe shoe, doesn’t matter if you’re swinging at 140 mph, the ball isn’t going anywhere, or at least anywhere you want it to go!

The harder you swing the higher the incident of non-solid ball contact. You are increasing your odds of poor swing technique, timing and sequence of motion, all leading to less than optimal impact on the clubface.

So next time you see a television commercial or read an ad in one of the golf magazines for a training aid that promises higher golf swing speed, does it talk about swing efficiency and control at the same time? If it doesn’t…move on to the next training aid.

Would you like to know how to get more power in your golf swing. I think a lot of us would like to hit the ball over 250yds every time we teed off, but as we know its not that easy. There are three main factors that govern your power, get these right and you have every chance of hitting those long drives you have always dreamt of hitting. Number one is the mechanics of your swing. Number two is your actual fitness in terms of flexibility and body strength, referred to as golf strength. Number three is your actual equipment, although this to a degree is only true if you have numbers one and two right in the first place. Technological advances in equipment over recent years have made a big difference in equipment and how far you are able to hit the ball.

The mechanics of the swing are imperative when you come to hitting the ball straight down the fairway. It is a fact that the more you practice your swing the better it will become. Lack of instruction is probably one of the most common mistakes that amateurs make. It is no good going to the driving range once every 6 to 8 weeks without having any professional instruction and expecting your power and accuracy to improve.

Golf strength describes the fitness level of an individual playing golf as apposed to someone going down the gym and bench pressing enormous weights. Your body needs to be flexible, strong and well balanced to be able to perfect your golf swing. You will not be able to improve your mechanics until you have improved your body. You need to improve the mechanics of your golf swing and your golf strength in order to perfect your golf swing.

Last on the list is the equipment itself. Technical advances in golf equipment over the last 15 to 20 years means that the choice of club is more important now than ever. Gone are the days when you played with a wood that actually contained wood in the club head.

A brief description of how to improve your golf swing comes down to these three things. With a combination of these three things, professional tuition and lots of practice you should soon see an improvement in how far you can drive a ball straight down the fairway.

Tip 1: You will need your hands placed with your thumbs pointed the same direction. Just, imagine how hitchhikers have their thumb up. When, you have your club in the air, your thumbs should point upwards. There are other things you can think about as well that will help you have your hands in the correct position to improve golf swing technique. If, your giving a handshake then your hands will be the same as when your playing golf. Also, if you have a remote control in your hand, then most likely they will be in the same position.

Tip 2: You want to make sure you don’t swing too quickly. While swinging the club, you should maintain a rhythm to improve your golf swing. While, you have the club in the air, you should pause before you bring the club back down. This will help you get the ball farther more often.

Tip 3: While swinging the golf club, you need to keep weight on the inner side of your right foot, and also have a slight bend in the knee. If you don’t do this, then you may not have as much power in your swing. While you have the club back behind you, just make sure your right knee is braced. Doing this, will help improve golf swing and send that ball far.

Tip 4: Your wrists aren’t the things that give you the power in golf. The part of the body that gives the ball the power is your leg muscles. People who are new to golf will try to use their wrists, and sometimes this might work. However, for more power more often, use your body and leg muscles.

Tip 5: You don’t need to hit the ball hard into the breeze; this will only send the ball with more spin and make it go higher. You need to hit the ball lower with more control, so keep the ball a few inches in front of you and have your hands forward. In the breeze, use a longer club then you normally would use, and just swing with ease.

Tip 6: You need a good balance to have a consistent swing. You need to hit the ball with your feet close together. This will help you have better balance, and improve your golf swing, for when you go back to your old position.

Tip 7: Before, any pro golfer goes to the first tee; they go to the practice area. All golfers should do this; you won’t need to worry about how you strike the ball here. You will be able to warm up and loosen those muscles before you play. When you hit the ball, you should have some wedges as you go down to the driver. This will improve golf swing technique and possibly prevent some injuries.

Tip 8: It’s very important to balance your swing, so you will be ready to hit the ball. If you can grip the club correctly, then your hands won’t slip off. Your right grip has the preference, because golf is played with your hands. You will also get to feel the hit if you have them correctly. You need to use pressure points, so you don’t drop the club, and so you can focus on a rhythm to improve golf swing technique.

Tip 9: On the backswing, many golfers let their left knee collapse. Doing this, will make your hips sway and makes your shoulder drop. Instead, you need to make sure your left knee goes outward on the swing. Doing this, you will feel some tension in your knees. Think of it like your holding something between your knees to keep them in the correct position.

Take action now, use these golf swing tips and put them into practice. You can only improve your golf swing using them!

Buying a set of clubs is like taking a shot in the dark even if you are a professional golfer, let alone the beginners. Golfers are a brand conscious society and choosing from Yones, Taylor made, Titleist, Adams, Callaway, Wilson, Spaulding, King Cobra, Ping or Mizuno becomes a little difficult and confusing.

Most golfers tend to buy what the others are buying. Buying a set of golf clubs is a little technical, and you should always buy them on their merits and suitability, rather than copying someone else’s purchase.

Uses of each club and knowing what each kind does would not only help in making a good choice but will also go a long way in improving your game. Right lie and shaft flex are also important factors in making the decision. Flex is the flexibility of the club. Powerful swingers should use less flex and beginners and less powerful swingers should use more flex.

If you are a beginner to the game, it is best that you stick to the basic set of clubs – the irons, wedges, drivers and putter. Each of these clubs is designed to increase and improve your swinging speed and will help correct your game.

Using the right club will facilitate in learning the game faster. The basic consideration in choosing you set of clubs is your basic ability level – low handicap, mid handicap or high handicap?

Low handicap: Score less than ten strokes over par..!

Recommended clubs: More than 1 fairway wood, driver, lower irons, more than 3 wedges, pitching wedge, sand wedge, lob/approach wedge.

Mid handicap: Golfers in the 11-20 handicap bracket..!

Recommended clubs: Fairway woods (7 and 9 required), driver, irons (3 and 9), more than 3 wedges, pitching wedge, sand wedge, lob/approach wedge.

High handicap: New gamers..!

Recommended clubs: 3 wood for tee off, 7 and 9 woods, more than 3 wedges, pitching wedge, sand wedge, lob/approach wedge.

Although drivers and woods are regarded to be the most important clubs in any golfer’s bag, a hybrid is found most commonly today. Many golfers prefer the Taylormade Rescue mid hybrid club which generates clubhead speed. The hybrid club has a lower centre of gravity thus facilitating good control and accuracy.

After you have the understanding and logic of why and when to use a particular club, many other consideration enter the picture before a club can be purchased. Trying out rented clubs can be useful to make the right decision. Buying second hand clubs, while beginning the game, may also prove effective and save costs.

One of the most important factors in building a repeatable and reliable swing on the golf course is golf swing timing. In fact, it is the timing of the golf swing that makes quiet necessary for golfers to concentrate. Even with the instruction and tips you may receive, golf fitness is actually a big part of obtaining good golf swing timing.

Just Like Any Other Sport

Most every pro athlete and even most that play sports recreationally have exercise worked into their training. The idea of the exercise is to help their bodies to perform exactly as they want it to when it comes time to perform in competition. A golf swing is just as demanding as a baseball swing or a jump shot, yet many beginning golfers don’t exercise or train for their golf swing timing.

Professionals spend a lot of time honing their golf swing and its timing through exercise and training, and you can see that they obtain a repeatable swing with perfect timing and cadence. You too can improve your golf swing timing, but not by sitting on the sofa watching golf on television.

How Did it End Up This Way?

The lack of golf fitness in amateurs is not a new situation. Golf has, in many circles, always been seen as a leisure game. The word “leisure” tends to imply that no training or preparation is needed. This perception has led to many an amateur with poor timing or nagging injuries that could have been easily prevented.

What to Do

If you notice that you cannot get good golf swing timing and thus are stuck at a point where you don’t seem to be improving, you may need to work on your golf fitness. You don’t necessarily need to run out and get an expensive gym membership and personal trainer. Instead, consult your golf coach and ask about exercises you can do.

Many of the exercises can, in fact, be done in a couple of minutes right in your office or living room.

Good golf swing timing is essential to honing a repeatable swing. To get there, though, you need to attain at least moderate golf fitness. There are some great books and resources available online for teaching you how to improve your fitness and hence your timing.

Check out my website below for some great golf fitness and swing timing tips, you’ll be slashing your golf score in no time!
