If you’re a long time slicer, then these are perfect golf swing drills to help you build a solid swing and teach you how to correct your slice. A straight ball goes much longer than a hooked or sliced shot, and research done by Golf Digest proved this fact to be true. Many professionals such as Jack Nicklaus and the legendary Ben Hogan have had great success by learning to hit a consistent controlled fade. Unlike those legendary players, most players just want to hit straighter golf shots. If you have problems pushing or slicing the golf ball then you’re not alone. Slicing is the number one problem that plagues most golf swings.

If you want to stop slicing one golf swing drill perfect for helping to correct a slice is to practice on the range with a club, usually around a five iron to seven iron that has a molded golf grip to make sure your hands stay in the correct position all the way thru your golf swing. Hand position is extremely important throughout the entire swing and a molded golf grip will help to build the proper muscle memory in your hands, wrist, and forearms for a correct swing. The great Harvey Penick once said, “If you’re slicing, then look to the hands.” That’s good advice because the typical slicer can correct their problem by making sure their hands are properly positioned on the golf club throughout the entire golf swing. If the hands aren’t positioned correctly the club face can remain open at impact producing the dreaded slice.

One of the most common and affective golf drills for straightening a slice is to turn your hands a little counter clockwise on the golf shaft. Just move your hands around just a bit more than a normal grip would be in the counter clockwise direction. You’re slicing because your hands haven’t turned over at impact so the club face is still a bit open. Although this tip doesn’t work with all golfers you may find that this swing drill will help you close the face of the club at impact and hit a much straighter golf shot.

Another common mistake golfers make is that they don’t keep their left shoulder down through their swing. If your left shoulder comes up before impact the tendency is for the arms to turn outward towards impact which opens the face of the club and produces a sliced golf shot. Golfer who tend to raise their head up before impact often find themselves slicing because they also raise their left shoulder and turn their chest too quickly. A great golf swing drill for keeping your head and shoulder down through your golf swing is to turn your head back to your right (this example refers to a right handed golfer) and look back at the ball with your eyes instead of looking straight down. This will give you an extra split second over the ball during your swing and help you keep your head down.

Breaking it down simply, if you want to stop slicing then you’re going to have to stop spinning the golf ball clockwise. Whatever is causing you to slice is probably now a habit within your swing if you’ve played for any length of time. In order to stop slicing you’ll have to identify what part of your golf swing is causing you to leave the club face open at impact. You may want to spend an hour with a golf professional who will video tape your golf swing and will help you pinpoint your problem area. There’s also a ton of inexpensive literature on the Internet that will show you the swing drills that work and that will help you develop a better golf swing.

On your next outing to the driving range take your video recorder and a friend and tape yourself hitting a variety of your clubs just like you would on the golf course. Video taping your swing is one of the most effective ways of finding your swings weak or problem areas. Get a good book of golf swing drills and sit back on your couch and tear your swing apart. Not only will you learn more about proper swing techniques but you’ll be on your way to a smoother more consistent swing and lower scores.

Golf experts do agree on something. It’s not possible to have a good stroke if your balance isn’t maintained throughout the entire golf swing. Keeping your balance sounds pretty simple. But it’s almost impossible when you have a death grip on the club, your arms and shoulders are stiff and you’re trying to hit the ball with every ounce of strength can muster.

When you first started playing golf, you were told to not hit the ball so hard. A little energy well directed and smoothly applied will drive the ball father than a monstrous effort that ends up not connecting the ball at the center of the club. If you’re balanced, you have more freedom throughout the golf swing when hitting the ball.

You want to keep your head in one spot, your eyes on the ball clearly. Actually the steadier you keep your head in one spot, the better you see the ball. This is all part of creating your foundation of balance and in turn a better golf swing. Anything that tips you off balance makes it impossible to see the ball clearly. You must keep your head still and not move it from the spot in which you start.

You can’t have your body rigid and your muscles tensed if you’re wanting to maintain your balance. Unless you relax your muscles, your head is going to move.

So what can you do to improve your balance and in turn your entire golf swing.

Practice in front of a mirror and you will see that your muscles really do need to be relaxed in order for you to keep your head still during a golf swing. No two people have the same frame or physique. So you have to work out some things for yourself. But always start with the foundation of keeping your head in one position. If your head is still, you can see the ball clearly and you will turn your hands at the right instant.

Just by keeping your head perfectly still you’ll correct a lot of faults. You can’t grip your club incorrectly without at some point disturbing your balance and moving your head. And you can’t keep your balance unless you follow through correctly.

If your mind is concentrated on keeping your balance and keeping your head still, you won’t over swing or jerk your club away. You won’t put forth too much effort forth at any one point. You won’t be stiff and you’ll have a smooth, even rhythm to your golf swing and a nice finish.

Balance really is the cure-all for many faults of golf. It takes time before you see improvement, so be patient. Think about keeping your head still and maintaining your balance at all times and you will have a foundation for an excellent golf game.

NOW is the time to fix that golf swing, once and forever. Start hitting the Fairway! We have helped THOUSANDS of golfers world-wide.

Consider this statement carefully…One great set of clubs PLUS one bad swing equals one golf ball in the water or out-of-bounds (and one or two strokes higher on your score card). We are here to help your game. Your GOLF SWING is what drives your score…not your clubs or the ball you play.

That is the truth in simple terms. You want a great golf swing? You can have it. You want to be able to chip the ball close to the pin? You will be putting the ball closer than you ever have in your life, and you’ll be doing it within hours of discovering this system. You want to know what you should be thinking as you are preparing to hit the ball? It’s all laid out for you. What makes “The Simple Golf Swing” so Successful? In short, it’s about using the spine as an axis to promote consistency and to keep you on the correct swing plane.

You’ll learn the correct hand action so that you can add distance to every shot. You’ll learn the correct timing to get straight ball flight, and consistent direction. You get a step-by-step guide on the full swing, a step-by-step guide on the short game, a mental guide, and personal coaching to make all of this happen quickly and easily.

I often see a number of amateurs prepare for their driver golf swing by walking up, after they have teed the ball up, they just take a step back and they address it. They grip the golf club and they address it, and they sort of just plot their feet down wherever they land, but let me tell you the proper way.

This way you’ll be able to get the ball in the correct position more often than not. After you have the golf ball and you’ve gripped it and you have addressed it, then you’ll just look down, take a peek down, and if this golf ball is running towards the left heel, then this is correct.

If you look down and you see the golf ball is a little too far forward off your left, that’s too far forward and you’ll probably see that the shoulders are aimed too far to the left.

On the other hand, if you look back down and you think the ball is too far back in your stance when you put this shaft along you, you’ll be aiming way off to the right.

So, after you’ve addressed the golf ball, all you have to do to get ready for your driver golf swing is bring the shaft up and lay it along your shoulder line, and it should be going in the direction you want to go with it.

If you get it too far back in your stance at address, you’ll wind up aiming your shoulders too far off to the right.

And if you get it off the left heel, this should be proper for most people.

Now, have you ever gone to play a round of golf and the first hole the wind is straight into you, the next two holes it’s blowing out of the right, the next two holes it’s from the left, then four holes in a row straight back into the wind, and then it gets worse?

The next three holes it’s blowing harder from the left. Then you get the shortest hole in the golf course downwind. And then, of course, you know the rest of the story, the next three holes, the longest holes in the golf course, dead into the teeth of it.

Well, those are tough driving days and you have to be prepared to react to it, because the wind isn’t going to stop just for you.

And when you’re playing well, I know you’re going to laugh, but it seems like every hole’s downwind. And when you’re playing difficult, it seems like every one of them is into a gale.

Remember this about tough driving days, this driver is not always the answer. How many times have you driven the golf ball 50 yards left of the fairway and only wished that you would have hit 6 iron off of the tee to get a better golf swing?

I’m not advocating that into the wind. However, the flatter the face on the golf club, the more the golf ball’s going to curve and the better your golf swing will be. And the windier it is, it exaggerates the curve if it’s going in the direction of the wind. So, this isn’t always the answer.

I have a 1 iron that I love, and I have driven with it many times on windy days, even into the wind, because it was important to find the golf ball in the fairway and not out of bounds.

So, don’t forget this is not the answer on rugged days. This is the answer when you’re driving the ball well.

When you’re not, it might be a 3 wood. Don’t give into the driver.

Thanks and have a great day.

In golf, you don’t just hit the ball as you wish. It requires a lot of discipline, self-control and preparation. Though it may seem to non-players that the sports is for sissies, it is actually a game that requires a higher level of thinking and skills.

Here are some helpful tips to a better golf swing:

1. Maximize your leg and trunk muscles.

Contrary to what most people think, golfing is not simply a wrist game. To be able to execute a powerful swing, your legs and trunk should also be in play, not just your arms and wrists.

Golfing requires the movement of your entire body. This will help you achieve not just swing power, but also game consistency.

2. Don’t swing too quickly.

This is one of the most common mistakes new golfers commit. This isn’t to say that your swing should lack power and acceleration. It means that you have to maintain your rhythm throughout the hit.

To achieve this, pause slightly at the peak of your backswing before you change your position and move toward your backswing. Practice this move and you’ll soon find your ball consistently landing in the middle of the fairway.

3. Balance is key.

Give off a solid golf swing by maintaining your balance and a smooth tempo. A good swing starts with a strong foundation.

Usually, placing your feet around 6 inches apart will help you attain that solid balance, but do try distances that are most comfortable for you.

Conclusion

Golfing is not as easy as it looks. While it seems effortless at first look, especially when you see golfers leisurely walking around in their crisp, unsoiled outfits, it is a mental and muscular challenge, as well.

It may not be as strenuous as the other sports but it also calls for solid muscle control and concentration. Never underestimate the power of a good swing.

As a seasoned veteran golfer should already know, the key to a good game of low scoring golf is the swing. As a beginner, the first thing you need to learn is that a better golf swing will eventually make you a better golfer.

As a beginner, the mechanics of the golf swing should be the first thing you should learn but it should be the last thing you’re thinking about while on the golf course. What is meant by that is that a golfer needs to know that the golf swing or golf swing thoughts should be used primarily for the purpose of learning a new motion until it is developed into unconscious thought (you swing from memory not thought).

This conscious thought of a better golf swing should only take place while on the range or when swinging around the house for practice, not while playing a game. When you’re on the range to play a game, the only thing you should be thinking about is where you want the ball to land.

Techniques

Pick a spot out on the course preferably the green of the fairway where you want to try and get the ball to land and concentrate on hitting the ball to that spot; don’t concentrate on how you’re going to swing the club. Using this thought on the ball also forces you to think ahead or think of something else other than your swing.

This sounds a lot easier than what it actually is and anyone who has tried not to think about their swing while swinging will testify to the difficulties your going to have while trying to train your mind as well as your swing.

In fact very few golfers are able to keep their minds off their swing, they are continually thinking while swinging how to get a better golf swing. In other words they are trying to hard, relax and concentrate on the ball and where your target is for the ball.

This new way of target golfing may take some time to get used to, so go out and practice this new way of golfing for a month or so preferably on the practice tee before you pass judgment on this technique give it some time and you will see that you will soon have a better golf swing where it counts, on the course.

GOLF SWING…

There is no better relaxation sport out there than golf, but only If your golf swing is how it should be. Every golfer knows the importance of a good golf swing, one that doesn’t change, its simple to learn, and one that increases both power and accuracy.

I started golfing 4years ago, and i am a great lover of the sport. in the beginning I just couldn’t keep by golf swing the same, trying a new shot every time, i had no confidence in my shots and i never believed that my ball would land on the green. 2years into my quest i decided to try The Simple Golf Swing . First of all it built up my confidence and made me enjoy the game twice as much. Second it helped me win nearly all of my matches (i had to let the boss win didn’t I)

Golf is a great sport, but if you want to be able to enjoy your game, and hit twice as far and with greater accuracy, then i advise you to read about The Simple Golf Swing . Trust me it will improve you golfing experiance Forever!
